Complete your Malaccan weekends by stopping by at The Majestic Malacca to indulge in a new epicurean gin experience with an interactive Gin Cart next to The Bar. Gin O’Clock at The Majestic Malacca invites guests to play the part of a worldly mixologist and try their hand at mixing their own Gin-based cocktails or if you’re not really a risk-taker, then just follow along to the recipes provided. The recipe cards may be taken home to recreate these Gin cocktails with a uniquely Malaccan twist.
To celebrate the launch, a Gin-Appreciation Evening was held at the property on the 23rd January 2018 that began with a Gin-Tasting Masterclass, led by Bar Awards Bartender of the Year 2017, C.K. Kho. Guests were taken through a brief history of the spirit whilst gaining a better understanding of the various tasting notes making up a specific Gin. The official unveiling of the Gin Cart soon followed where guests played the part of mixologist and made their own Gin cocktails.
“Thanks to small independent distillers coupled with the revival of the cocktail scene both domestically and abroad, Gin has entered its second wave of popularity. Consumers are thirsty for new and different interpretations of this beloved spirit. We hope to quench that thirst with our newest offering whilst also positioning The Majestic Malacca as the epicentre of unique culinary treasures, as it is the home of the rare Kristang Cuisine and the Malacca Gin” — Vice-President of Marketing, Geraldine Dreiser.
Located just off The Bar on the hotel’s ground floor, the Gin Cart features a collection of bespoke cocktail recipe cards. Created by C.K. Kho, these recipes give a uniquely Malaccan twist to otherwise classic Gin cocktails and include a Malacca Collin, Celery Gimlet and a Pandan-infused Gin & Tonic. Guests are welcomed to take these recipe cards so they may recreate these refreshing beverages from the comfort of their own homes.
Guests are invited to join Gin O’Clock at The Majestic Malacca, happening every Friday and Saturday from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. For further information, visit the page here.
