Following the continual success of Charlotte Tilbury’s first Hot Lips collection in 2016 – which pays homage to the likes of Cindy Crawford and Kim Kardashian in lipstick shades inspired by their beauty – the make-up artist now launches Hot Lips 2.

Inspired by 11 forceful women and men, the range includes JK Magic (dedicated to J.K. Rowling), Amazing Amal (Amal Clooney), Red Hot Susan (Susan Sarandon) and Dancefloor Princess (Kylie Minogue). There’s also Patsy Red, a shade symbolic of the celebrated make-up artist’s mother Patsy Tilbury, her first beauty icon and one of her biggest inspirations.

By distilling these distinctive personalities into shades, the idea is that everyone can have a little of the icons’ glamour, confidence and power on their person. Plus, Tilbury says, they have been formulated to flatter all.

“When I created this range, I wanted to create a new colour world for everyone – looking for gaps in the colour spectrum and mixing the most nuanced, super flattering, super wearable shades. These shades have super powers, they look incredible on everyone. I always envision the colour and texture, and how they complement each other to make the shade even more unique and incredible.”

Besides wanting the magic of Rowling or the poise of Clooney on your lips, there are multiple reasons to covet the icon-inspired shades. Not least the packaging.

For the first time, the new Hot Lips collection will be available in refillable cases, which each come with a defined shade but are designed to be used interchangeably with all in the new collection.

Then there are the charitable credentials. Not just an object of beauty, the Hot Lips 2 lineup benefits Tilbury’s charity partner, Women for Women International with a £1 million pledge.

The decision comes after she discovered “the story of a woman who felt empowered by her red lipstick while living in conflict,” and will help more women affected by war complete year-long training programme to improve their lives.
