If you didn’t already know, autism is a complicated lifelong developmental condition that affects a person’s communication skills and social interaction with the world. Approximately 9,000 children are diagnosed with it every single year and will need intervention programmes to better help them adapt to their surroundings and lead a quality life filled with great opportunities.
In an effort to create more awareness for the autism community, specialist haircare brand, Schwarzkopf Professional Malaysia has launched a CSR program named ‘Together We Make a Difference’ in order to raise funds for the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM), in conjunction with the revamp of its IGORA ROYAL hair colouring collection.
During the launch of the program, Richard Gan, General Manager of Schwarzkopf Professional Malaysia & Singapore says, “The IGORA ROYAL re-stage is all about bringing over 60 years of colour innovation to the next level with modernised, sustainable packaging and simplified range assortments; using the same trusted high-performing formula. This inspired us to take it a step further by colouring not only beautiful hair. We want to also colour the lives of autistic children who still lack the attention and support they need from the public.”
“We want to also colour the lives of autistic children who still lack the attention and support they need from the public.”
Through the programme, students of NASOM were invited to paint and express themselves freely through art, creating a myriad of artwork ranging from abstract to geometrical and even nature-inspired pieces. Fifteen of these creations were then selected for display at an exclusive artistic showcase hosted by the brand earlier this month. On top of that, Schwarzkopf Professional Malaysia also presented a generous cash contribution worth RM15,000 to NASOM.
“As we are a non-governmental association (NGO), we truly appreciate organizations like Schwarzkopf Professional Malaysia coming forward to lend a helping hand especially on raising funds to help maintain and better equip our facilities for the children. We want to make sure we can meet the needs of the children who come to NASOM so they can flourish and integrate well within the society,” said Julian Wong the Chairman from NASOM.
Aside from the art display, the artistic showcase event also saw a series of video presentations featuring local personalities such as singer Indah Ruhaila and actress Julia Farhana Marin, followed by a special IGORA Collection Inspired by Art runway show by Euniece Yee, Schwarzkopf Professional 2018/19 Asia Pacific Shaping Authentic Beauty Congress (SABC) Grand Champ winner.
