Under a gradation of greys, Dior’s “guided by the stars” collection continued its future from the past.
During an evening at the Great Pyramid of Giza, Kim Jones, the artistic director of Dior Men presented his Autumn collection, part of the continuum of past, present, and future – with very much the future in mind. It was a culmination of this year’s shows when silhouettes emerge from the desert, in motion, reflecting the colours of the sky, the landscape, and the passage of time.
To celebrate the event, celebrities and trendsetters from all over the world made an appearance.

“My interest in ancient Egypt is about the stars and the sky. It's that fascination with the ancient world and the parallels with what we look at today; what we inherited from them and what we are still learning from the past. It links to Christian Dior in that sense and by way of his fascination with symbols and superstitions that recur throughout his life and work, one of which is the star. In both the collection and the show there is an idea of ‘Guided by the Stars’ and what that can entail in many ways. It’s about how the past shapes the future or an idea of the future from the past.”
From daytime to nightfall, a line of 75 pieces was showcased in between the palette of the desert, along with a gradation of greys. Dior Men Fall 2023 menswear collection is a dash for the unknown future, braving and exploring new looks. On the runway, each look is punctuated by a blend of creative boldness, practicality, sophistication, and unique accessories.
The collection feminizes femininity into masculinity in tailoring; combines couture embellishment with technical utility in outerwear; archival embroidery has the notion of a futuristic armoury, and leatherwork reinterprets luxury as a new, organic utility. Emphasis on comfort and practicality, modern footwear flirts with futurism; while retaining a foundation of traditional craftsmanship combined with the excellence of technical knowledge. In short, luxury is achieved with a relaxed, pragmatic elegance.
