HYBE x Geffen Records announces contestants for unprecedented global girl group, Dream Academy.
After receiving over 120,000 submissions, music industry giants HYBE and Geffen Records have revealed 20 contestants from around the world who will be competing for a spot in HYBE x Geffen Records’ global girl group, Dream Academy. The girl group is a first-of-its-kind, hailing members from South Korea, Thailand, USA, the Philippines, Japan, Brazil, Switzerland, Australia, Belarus, Argentina, Sweden and Slovakia.
With BTS under HYBE and artists like NewJeans and Olivia Rodrigo under Geffen Records, the Dream Academy has already received a warm welcome from global names such as Tomorrow x Together, ENHYPEN, Fromis_9 and LE SSERAFIM. Also, this marks one of the first times a major U.S. record label and a K-pop entertainment leader will be joining forces.

In honour of their debut, Netflix will be releasing a documentary series showcasing their diligent efforts and journey with behind-the-scenes footages. The documentary will solely focus on their training up until the finale. Slated to release in 2024, the series will be directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Nadia Hallgren — known for her contributions to the four-time Emmy nominated documentary, Becoming.
