Meet the Rookies in the Formula 1 2025 Season

Lights out, and away we go.

The 2025 Formula 1 season is about to begin, and it’s time to familiarize yourself with the changes in team lineups and the exciting new rookies on the grid. This year, six determined and talented rookies are set to make their debut, marking the largest influx of new drivers since 2001.

Now, let’s get to know these talented lads a little better.

Introducing the rookies in the Formula 1 2025 grid:

Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team

With Lewis Hamilton’s departure, the 18-year-old fills the spot for 2025, bringing a lot to prove. Previously, he competed in Formula 2 for one season, and this announcement sets the stage for an exciting duo at Mercedes.

Oliver James Bearman, Haas

You might recall Oliver, who filled in for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari and delivered an impressive debut by securing a spot in the top 10 on the grid. Later in the season, he stepped in for Kevin Magnussen at Haas in Azerbaijan and Brazil, which ultimately earned him a multi-year contract with the team. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Ollie!

Jack Doohan, Alpine

Before securing a place on the grid, Australian Jack Doohan had been Alpine’s F1 reserve since 2023. With Esteban Ocon’s departure, the opportunity finally arose for Doohan to demonstrate his skills. Now is the moment for Doohan to unleash his potential alongside teammate Pierre Gasly.

Liam Lawson, Red Bull Racing

Liam Lawson is no stranger to the Formula 1 scene. With experience from 11 Grand Prix races, Lawson has finally secured a permanent position with Red Bull Racing, joining teammate Max Verstappen. Before his F1 debut, Lawson climbed the ranks by competing in various divisions, including Formula First, Formula 2, and Formula 3. Isack Hadjar, Racing Bulls

Driving alongside Yuki Tsonada, Isack Hadjar enters the grid with experiences from his remarkable 2024 Formula 2 season–four wins and eight podiums, which earned him a vice-champion title in FIA F2. With this incredible feat, it makes perfect sense to include him into the roster for the 2025 Formula 1 grid.

Gabriel Bortoleto, Sauber

Hailing from Brazil, Gabriel Bortoleto will partner with Nico Hulkenberg at team Sauber for the 2025 season. Bortoleto has a wealth of experience, having made his single-seater debut in Italian F4. He later secured a spot in the Formula Regional European Championship before moving on to compete in Formula 3.
