The latest premium addition to Temple Tree Resort Langkawi, The Straits House is a 90-year-old Eurasian house originally from Penang. Steeped in history and elegance, the interior of the house has a modern look with vibrant sunny yellow and sky-blue hues, casting a spell of tranquillity upon all who enter. Its original wooden floors, lovingly sanded down and stained, bear witness to a rich heritage while its delicate lattice patterned ceilings is reminiscent of a time craftsmanship knew no bounds. Guests will also find four Oriental wardrobes specially commissioned for each bedroom to reflect Peranakan culture and heritage.

Rented as a whole unit, the Straits House features four bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom – making it ideal for families or groups of up to 8 persons. The house also has a living room and spacious veranda with a dining table. What sets this house apart from others, is that beyond the grandeur of its interiors lies a true oasis of indulgence – an enchanting private pool ensconced within lush, verdant gardens. Johor House

Originating from Batu Pahat, Johor, the Johor House is a picturesque pink farmhouse that emanates a captivating blend of Chinese and Taiwanese influences. With a remarkable history spanning a century, this charming abode proudly showcases its family heritage, exemplified by a cherished portrait on the walls of Johor 2.

The Johor House has two two-bedroom suites: Johor 1 (located on the lower level) and Johor 2 (located on the upper level). Each suite can comfortably sleep up to 4 persons or a maximum of 5 persons with the addition of an extra bed which can be requested.

Johor 1 houses one king-bedded room and one queen-bedded room which share  a bathroom with a luxurious wooden bathtub and separate walk-in rain shower. The unit also holds a spacious living room and a veranda which wraps around the three sides of the house and overlooks the swimming pool.

On the other hand, Johor 2 features one king-bedded room and one twin-bedded room which share similar toilet amenities. In addition, the suite has a living room and study while the upper level also has a spacious veranda where guests can catch beautiful sunsets while sipping on crafted cocktail or mocktails.

Penang House

Originally nestled near the vibrant Gurney Drive in Penang, the Penang House was constructed in the early 1930s by a Chinese contractor. With architecture that reflects the 131 years of British influence on the state, Penang House features a unique brand of architecture that combines Chinese, Indian and Islamic elements. Preserving its original charm, the exterior retains its authentic colour while boasting two entrances.

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by a refreshing ambience adorned with white walls, complemented by turquoise shutters, and vibrant accents of raspberry and lime green. Perfectly designed for families, the two suites connect seamlessly through double doors, yet maintains its own distinct entrance and living space, providing both privacy and togetherness.

This single storey house comprises two two-bedroom suites: Penang 1 which has a one king-bedded room and one twin-bedded room (comfortably sleeping 4 – 5 persons). Additionally, Penang 2 has a one king-bedded room and a one single bedded room that comfortably sleeping 3-4 persons). The suite’s shared en-suite bathroom includes a luxury wooden bathtub and a separate walk-in rain shower.

Once a proud symbol in the heart of George Town, Penang, the Colonial House stands as a testament to the masterful craftsmanship of Arab goldsmiths who built it in the 1920s. With a captivating blend of Eastern and Western influences, the house holds Peranakan floor tiles which harmoniously coexist with intricate European cornices.

Negeri Sembilan House

Once a family home in Mantin, Negri Sembilan, this raised single storey house is now a luxurious suite, with beautiful stained-glass windows and a spacious front veranda.

Built in the 1920s, this 120 sqm house features two bedrooms, a living/dining area, and a great outdoor porch. A special feature of this house is its coloured glass windows which are a vibrant contrast to the overall black and white colour scheme.

Ipoh House

The Grand Dame of the resort, originally from lpoh town centre, has two parts. The back portion was built in 1900 whilst the front portion was built in 1903, in a more colonial style. If you’re curious, the original owners of this home were tin miners.

Today, Ipoh House has been transformed into a retro chic restaurant bar and reception lounge. After a day of exploring, head over to indulge in their finest meals, sip-worthy cocktails and more.
