The make-up theme behind Dior’s Haute Couture Autumn/Winter ’17 show was natural beauty. As he explains, “This intrepid adventurer feels at home all over the world. She’s an explorer who crosses the five continents and shows us a beautiful, bare, slightly untamed beauty that is unaffected. She loves movement and speed, travel and discovery. She embodies the momentum of the House of Dior, which, from its beginnings 70 years ago, developed incredibly quickly on an international level.”

The key to looking au naturel is to avoid caking on too much product. As we’re going for an “unrefined” look, less is more—and here lies the challenge. Apply a thin layer of a medium to full coverage foundation to even out the skin tone. If you need more coverage for correction, use a concealer instead of piling on more foundation. This makes sure to keep your skin looking luminous—we want to give off the impression of having been outdoors in the fresh air.

Adding glow and colour is essential for a natural and healthy complexion. Peter Philips applied a veil of DiorBlush Contour & Light n°001 as well as a touch of Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer n°001, which he says adds an imperceptible sheen to the parts of the face that catch the light.
