Ashley Graham has a major new gig: she’s the new face of Revlon. The model stars in the brand’s new Live Boldly campaign alongside other new Revlon ambassadors Adwoa Aboah, Imaan Hammam, and Raquel Zimmerman, as well as Achok Majak and Rina Fukushi. This comes on the heels of the announcement that actress Gal Gadot will also join the Revlon family.
Graham’s campaign marks the first time a curvy model has landed a major beauty contract. “You’ve been slowly seeing [curvy] models pop up in makeup campaigns, but you haven’t heard of any actually signing contracts, and I think it’s because [companies] just want to get their feet wet. It’s like, ‘Hmmm, let’s try this bold curvy thing now and see if it’s real or see if it’s a trend,’” Graham told Women’s Wear Daily. “The average American woman is a size 14 and if you ask me, lipstick does not have a size.”
Graham personally resonates with the Live Boldly tagline, telling WWD that when Revlon global brand president Anne Talley told her the name of the campaign—she offered to sign on immediately. “My affirmations are, ‘I am bold, I am brilliant, I am beautiful,’” she told WWD.
Model Adwoa Aboah is no stranger to beauty campaigns. The recently-named Model of the Year, founder of Gurls Talk, and activist also just starred in a Marc Jacobs Beauty campaign. “Revlon gives us a platform that allows us to be accessible to all different types of women,” Aboah said in a statement. “To me, ‘Living Boldly’ means being unapologetic, knowing no boundaries, being vulnerable, strong, authentic and yourself.”
