Charlotte Tilbury’s Niece Created the Most Mesmerising Beauty Looks at Fashion Week

The surname Tilbury may immediately conjure up Charlotte Tilbury’s namesake brand but you might not know that there are two make-up artists in the Tilbury family, both of whom are capable of creating beautiful looks at Fashion Week.

Sofia Schwarzkopf-Tilbury, who is Charlotte’s niece, learnt her trade working at the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Selfridges.

This season, she was behind the make-up at Temperley London and Agent Provocateur, while also assisting her aunt at Naomi Campbell’s Fashion Relief spring/summer 2020 show.

In signature Tilbury style, the looks all focused on defining the features and achieving a lit-from-within radiance, but Sofia brought her own unique flair (and a clever trick to help check your make-up) too.

Bazaar spoke to the young make-up artist to discover her tips and tricks:

To check that her make-up looks always look great, even under the harsh catwalk lights, Schwarzkopf-Tilbury has a secret weapon – a hand-held LED light she purchased on Amazon.

She credits the clever little device for ensuring that she always applies the right amount of glow-boosting products and in the right places. It’s also the reason her photos look incredible on her social media channels too.

Tip two: How to get-the-glow

Charlotte Tilbury’s best-selling Pillow Talk range was the star of the make-up at Temperley London, where Schwarzkopf-Tilbury used pink tones to emphasise the natural, healthy glow of the models’ complexions.

“I loved creating this dreamy, hazy, fresh look, which was inspired by Italian Summer Nights”, said the make-up artist. “It’s a new type of softer, smoky eye, that looks more natural, created using the Luxury Palette in Pillow Talk and the Palette of Pops in Pillow Talk, which is coming soon.”

Her main piece of advice: Use the two matte shades on the outer and inner edges of your eyes, with a hint of lighter, highlighting colour in the centre to open-up your eyes and to add radiance.

Then, boost your skin’s glow with a blush-toned highlighter – Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Light Wand in Pinkgasm – and a matching lip colour, like the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk.

Tip three: Combing eyeliner and lipstick

“This look is all about channeling the art of seduction and confidence”, explained Schwarzkopf-Tilbury about the regal yet flirtatious make-up for the Agent Provocateur show.

The look featured dramatic eyeliner flicks, created using Charlotte Tilbury’s Feline Flick Liquid Eyeliner Pen, which were balanced by lots of lash-lengthening mascara, especially on the bottom lashes.

The eye make-up was then teamed with a bold red lipstick. The exact shades were Matte Revolution Lipstick in Red Carpet Red or K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in So Marilyn, applied depending on the models’ skin tones.

Lip liner was also used beforehand to keep the bright colours in place. Bazaar recommends Nude by Nature’s Defining Lip Pencil.
