Meet Dior’s Newest J’adore Intense Fragrance

J’adore Intensified

Since its debut in 1999, J’adore has become one of the defining fragrances of the modern era. And in that time, the scent has quickly established itself as a luminous celebration of femininity, built around a radiant floral bouquet and housed in a now-iconic amphora bottle. Its silhouette draws inspiration from the figure-eight line introduced in 1947 with Christian Dior’s New Look, linking the fragrance to one of the most pivotal moments in the brand’s history.

The iconic J’adore fragrance enters a richer chapter with J’adore Intense, amplifying its radiant florals with deeper warmth and sensuality.

Over the years, J’adore has continued to evolve through a series of reinterpretations, each offering a fresh perspective on the original composition while preserving its unmistakable identity. That ability to balance familiarity with reinvention is part of what has kept the fragrance relevant for more than two decades. Today, J’adore remains a cornerstone of Dior’s perfume universe, with each new version adding another layer to its story.

The latest chapter arrives with J’adore Intense, a richer and more enveloping interpretation created by Dior’s perfume creation director, Francis Kurkdjian. Rather than simply increasing the concentration, Kurkdjian approached the fragrance as an opportunity to deepen the character of the original bouquet, shaping a scent that feels warmer, fuller and more textured on the skin.

“It is rare for me to compose a fragrance with a specific woman in mind,” Kurkdjian explains. “For J’adore Intense, however, I made an exception and created this scent based on an image of truly contemporary ultra-femininity.”

That image is embodied by Rihanna, who continues her role as the face of the fragrance. Her confident presence has helped shape the spirit of this new interpretation, bringing a sense of ease and self-assurance that mirrors the fragrance itself.

At the heart of J’adore Intense is a more indulgent take on the floral bouquet that defines the original scent. Jasmine develops a soft apricot nuance, while ylang-ylang lends a warm, sunlit brightness. Rose adds a subtly addictive sweetness, paired with a violet accord that introduces a delicate gourmand touch. Together, these notes create a floral composition that feels both vibrant and enveloping.

“For this new intense concentration, I wanted to create a honeyed floral nectar that was really sensual and rounded,” says Kurkdjian. “I imagined the flowers reaching their chromatic and olfactory peak, where they would release fruity, warm, solar facets.” As the fragrance settles, creamy sandalwood and smooth vanilla emerge at the base, adding depth and warmth that linger softly on the skin. Expect a scent that unfolds gradually, moving from luminous florals to a richer, more comforting finish.

The bottle, too, receives a thoughtful update. The iconic amphora silhouette remains instantly recognisable, its elongated curves still echoing the sculptural elegance that has defined J’adore since its launch. For this latest iteration, however, Dior has subtly reworked the construction of the bottle in pursuit of a lighter environmental footprint.

The glass amphora has been redesigned with significantly reduced weight, making it one of the lightest perfume bottles currently available within its category. By refining the amount of glass used in its production, Dior is able to lower the volume of raw materials required, from sand to silica, while also reducing the energy needed during the manufacturing process. The impact extends beyond the production stage as well, as lighter bottles mean lower emissions when transported globally.

Despite these technical changes, the aesthetic remains unmistakably J’adore. In many ways, the redesign reflects Dior’s broader approach to evolving its icons: preserving what makes them instantly recognisable while quietly refining the details behind the scenes.
