This season, we go mad for monochrome with a 3-looks-in-one eyeshadow wonder from Chanel Beauty.
In the prestigious corridors of Chanel’s Makeup Creation Studio, the visionary Cécile Paravina, global make-up creative partner of the House of Chanel Cometes Collective, has drawn upon the House’s timeless heritage to reinterpret the colour palette for the new monochromatic Ombre Essentielle eyeshadow collection by Chanel Beauty. Connecting past with present, the collection of 14 eyeshadow shades seamlessly bridges Paravina’s creative realm with Chanel’s iconic colour legacy. “Colour is the most direct way to express an abstract and complex message,” Paravina says in the press notes. “Keeping to just one make-up colour ensures that the message lands even more impact.”
Parisian Hues
In the collection, each hue carries a distinctive narrative. Gris Paris is a shade reminiscent of the monochromatic rooftops in the City of Lights, a tribute to the birthplace of Mademoiselle’s creations. Beige Suede reflects the charm of the iconic sofa in Mademoiselle’s revered Rue Cambon apartment. Brun Fauve embodies the strength and elegance of her totem animal, the lion. Elsewhere, Blanc Perle echoes the delicate shimmer of pearls adorning Mademoiselle’s bespoke creations. Meanwhile, Bois Noir represents the audacious black that became synonymous with elegance under her deft hand.
But the collection is not merely about the colours. The palette also takes you into a world of creative self-expression. coming to life on lashes, lids or brows, in matt, satin, or metallic textures. From sultry green to passionate red, bold orange to soft lilac. Additionally, the collection’s richer, creamier texture enables effortless blending, varying intensity and desired colour results for the perfect monochromatic look.
More Than One Monochrome Look
And with monochromes, it’s all about the right application, because there’s more than one way to wear monochrome. Thanks to Paravina’s genius, the Chanel Ombre Essentielle is essentially a 3-in-1 beauty product that proposes three application techniques to inspire your look. “Working with a single colour gives you the choice to concentrate on the shape and the application style,” explains Cécile Paravina. To accentuate the eyes, Paravina suggests to take the colour all the way up to the base of the eyebrows for a bolder look. To add structure, dampen the tapered brush for a more intense and precise result. If you want to intensify the eyes, apply colour to the eyelid, but also to the lower lash line for a perfect all-over look.
Tone-on-tone Or Contrast
Additionally, en route to creating that signature “Chanel allure”, Paravina introduced the Blanc Perle multi-use top coat to better amplify the Ombre Essentielle collection. This sheer shade illuminates the eyes with a celestial iridescence when worn alone. Paravina has also developed three riveting new shades namely orangey-red, brick brown, and pastel lilac mauve for the house’s iconic Noir Allure mascara, allowing for a harmonious tone-on-tone look if not striking contrast when paired with the colours from Ombre Essentielle.
