Rihanna is Officially Launching Fenty Skin—Here’s What We Know

Fenty Skin is set to join Fenty Beauty this year.

Rihanna technically already has skincare under her groundbreaking beauty brand Fenty Beauty. There’s a lip balm, lip scrub, blotting paper, and setting spray all available now—but the mogul isn’t stopping there. Rihanna confirmed in the latest issue of British Vogue that the long-awaited Fenty Skin line is dropping soon (really!).

“Skincare, it’s the truth. It either works or it doesn’t. There’s nowhere to hide,” she told the publication. The interview also notes that Rihanna is focused on achieving the same level of perfection and quality with Fenty Skin as she did with Fenty Beauty. There is no set date on when fans can expect the skin care line or an indication of the products might be, though the article mentions the brand will be launching imminently.

Rihanna has been working on Fenty Skin as far back as March of last year, when she filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Fenty Skin trademark covers “medicated and non-medicated skincare, soap, body care and personal care products (excluding color cosmetics, perfume and other fragrance-only products), and related accessories such as kits, tools and applicators.”

The May 2020 issue of British Vogue was created prior to the pandemic which has subsequently brought the world almost to a halt. In any case, we couldn’t imagine a better cover star than @BadGalRiri, an advocate for tolerance whose rallying cry has redefined every industry she’s turned her hand to, and whose generous spirit saw her make a $5 million donation to fight Covid-19 with her @ClaraLionelFdn earlier this month. In the new issue the multi-hyphenate talks to @AfuaHirsch about her forthcoming album, her desire to become a mother and why she won’t be pinned down. See the full story in the new issue, on newsstands and available for free digital download Friday 3 April, and read the full interview now at the link in bio. #Rihanna wears all @Burberry by @RiccardoTisci17 and a @StephenJonesMillinery durag. In the same interview, Rihanna admitted that she has complete control over everything Fenty Beauty releases—from the shade names to the marketing copy. “Oh yeah! I write all of the copy for the websites, the product descriptions, product names, the color names…” she said. “I do have a huge team, but I just don’t necessarily think their tone is mine. I’d feel like a fraud selling something that I can’t stand by.”

We’ll update this post when we know more about the launch of Fenty Skin, including the products and prices.
