Marc Jacobs has launched their beloved Perfect fragrance in an Eau De Toilette version. It has faithfully maintained the running message behind the image of this fragrance: to love and be true to yourself!
Self-care, self-love and self-acceptance are all pillars we should strengthen each day. In times of weakness and setbacks, we want to turn those thoughts into advantages and even uniqueness. Wanting to celebrate and embrace being true to yourself, Marc Jacobs launched the first members of the Perfect family. The Eau De parfum and the Perfect Intense were both introduced in July 2020.
Come the new EDT, it’s heavily inspired by Marc himself. One of the mantras he lives by—’I am perfect as I am’—is the biggest theme of the fragrance and even tatted on his wrist. It’s all about spreading the message of positivity and enjoyment of life. This fresh scent immortalises this message in fragrance form, which then aligns perfect with the tag, to be #perfectasiam.
To be ‘Perfect As I Am’
In conjunction with the launch of this fragrance in Malaysia, BAZAAR has collaborated with Marc Jacobs to highlight five personalities—each of whom have a different character and charm. We bring together Sonya Danita (model and activist), Tuti (model), Nalisa Alia Amin (model), Kel Wen (fashion designer) and Haneesya Hanee (host, model and actress). Each thoughtfully and vulnerably sharing their own personal views of self-love and how they represent their true self.
Sonya Danita
For Sonya, it’s all about loving ourselves from all aspects. “Good day or bad day, we should always choose to accept ourselves fully. And that’s also what I love about the message of Perfect EDT. It’s nurturing self-love.” For Sonya, her skin is a uniqueness that differentiates her from others, and for her that difference is a strength. When asked about what makes her happy she simply answered, “doing something I like, spending time with people I love, both easily make me happy.”
Haneesya Hanee
What inspires me every day is how I imagine what I want to achieve in the future. Every morning when I wake up I will imagine the female character that I want to form within myself. I want to be better for myself,” said Haneesya. And for me self-love is knowing and deepening self-sufficiency and ‘falling in love’ with that self-sufficiency. “If there’s something we don’t like about ourselves, and we want to change, it’s up to us, as long as it makes us happy. Why not?”
Kel Wen
When asked what authenticity means to oneself, Kel Wen replied “being different from others is actually an advantage.” And for him it is very important for him to value ‘me time’ and always think positively. “I am a positive person, I make everything happen and I’m real. Anything around me can spark inspiration every day,” explained the creative director of BEHATI.
Nalisa Alia Amin
Self-love for Nalisa means accepting yourself regardless of strength and weaknesse. To accept your feminine or masculine characteristics within yourself and accepting your ying and yang. And for her again, it’s all about needing to accept your values and self-confidence, accept the way we think even if sometimes it might make other people uncomfortable. When asked about her uniqueness, Nalisa quickly replied, “my brain is the way I think. Even though it’s not perfect, I accept it as it is.”
Tuti
For Tuti, self-love is when she gives care to her body and mind—from doing her skincare routine, to spraying her favourite fragrance—they all play a part in fulfilling her happiness. “The people around me are a source of inspiration, especially creative people. And if people ask me to sum up who I am, the answer is that I am a very ‘random’ person and I always choose to feel happy. Playing with cats is the easiest way to uplift myself especially my cat, Cosmo. I love you Cosmo,” she professes.
Meet the Perfect Eau De Toilette
This fragrance is the work of renowned perfumer, Domitlle Michalon-Bertier. He developed the Perfect EDT in a fresher presentation of the signature Perfect floral blend. Domitlle marries a bouquet of pink peppercorns with polygonum, and also white daffodils. This fragrance is also warmed by cedar wood. Its flacon is a clear flask, similar to the previous edition of the Perfect, which also received a personal touch from Marc Jacobs himself. What’s interesting about this fragrance bottle is definitely the lid, which has been decorated with various eclectic elements such as cherries, dice and more. The box carries the fun, eclectic theme and is decorated with an exclusive sketch by New York artist, Jacky Blue. The Perfect EDT comes in three volumes, 100ml, 50ml and 30ml.
