Yayoi Kusama Collaborates with Louis Vuitton Parfums

Continuing the dialog that first started in 2012, Yayoi Kusama joins hands once again with Louis Vuitton for a limited edition collection that is nearly impossible to resist.

With this collection split into two separate launches, it aims to directly reflect Yayoi Kusama’s motifs and motivations through distinct thematic directions. The first drop being ‘Painted Dots, Infinity Dots’, whilst the second ‘Flowers, Faces, Pumpkins’—which will only be released later in March.

Drop 1

For drop one, expect a transformation of bottles and Travel Cases of three Louis Vuitton fragrances composed by Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud: Attrape-Rêves, Spell On You and L’Immensité.

Paying homage to the artist’s first collaboration with the House, the ‘Painted Dots, Infinity Dots’ drop draws inspiration from a Louis Vuitton trunk the artist had hand painted back in 2012. The three iconic fragrances have been decorated with playful and vibrant Painted Dots with a unique tactile finish and perfectly chosen colours of dots to suit the themes of each fragrance.

Green, yellow, red, blue and white dots are applied over Attrape-Rêves and its canvas Monogram Travel Case while the men’s fragrance, L’Immensité, is decorated with a gradation of black, silver, grey and white. For Spell On You, you’ll notice this is where the Infinity Dots state their claim. This repetitive dot pattern has become Kusama’s signature over time and is applied in red and white on the obsessional Spell On You flacon.

Drop 2

As for drop two, you’ll see Yayoi Kusama’s cherishment of pumpkins, faces and florals come to life. The same three fragrances will undergo another magical metamorphosis—taking on a new face with the different motifs coming to play.

The first instalment of this collection will be released January 6, and drop two will shortly follow on March 31st
