American Instagram users can now buy beauty products directly via the social media platform, with a new functionality called ‘Checkout on Instagram’.
Without having to leave the app, you can simply tap to buy from a brand’s shopping post mid-scroll. Consider it convenience-meets-temptation.
The function allows you to select from various options such as size or colour before proceeding to payment without leaving Instagram. The app will ask for your personal details and billing information the first time you check out, which is then securely saved for next time. Updates regarding the purchase and delivery will also be provided within the app.
Checkout has launched with 23 brands, with the beauty partners varying from household names including MAC and Nars, to newer Millennial brands like Ouai and Huda Beauty.
Instagram has yet to confirm if and when Checkout will be available to UK users, but with the ongoing demand for ever-sophisticated e-commerce, we imagine it won’t be long.
The current full list of retailers on Checkout includes: Adidas, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Balmain, Burberry, ColourPop, Dior, H&M, Huda Beauty, KKW, Kylie Cosmetics MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, NARS, Nike, NYX Cosmetics, Oscar de la Renta, Ouai Hair, Outdoor Voices, Prada, Revolve, Uniqlo, Warby Parker and Zara.
