It was a night to remember
The MTV VMAs 2023 kicked off with a bang at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Hosted by Nicki Minaj, the annual awards ceremony had some phenomenal moments that we’re still thinking about. Notable as Hollywood’s and the music industry’s biggest night, the ceremony was not short of incredible musical acts. Artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Wayne, Fall Out Boy, Demi Lovato, Future, Shakira, and Stray Kids were among the list of talented stars that graced us with their rocking presence.
And, since it was an awards ceremony, let’s not forget that the VMAs 2023 made music history with all the nominations and awards. Taylor Swift had 8 nominations for the night, while Shakira was this year’s recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, becoming the first Latin American artist honoured.
On top of that, the glamorous night was also filled with fashionable moments that we’re obsessed with — celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Shakira and Kelsea Ballerini were all dressed to the nines in their finest ensembles.

The Pink-Carpet Affair
Before all your favourite performers hit the main VMAs stage, Hollywood’s top stars made an appearance on the pink carpet in their glitziest and boldest outfits. While Taylor Swift donned a black Versace dress, Selena Gomez looked dreamy and ethereal in Oscar de la Renta. Taking the sequinned route was Olivia Rodrigo in a Ludovic de Saint Senin, Shakira in Versace and Dove Cameron in Coach. Sabrina Carpenter also looked stunning in a white and silver flowy dress.

Taylor Swift Sweeping The Wins
Taylor Swift swept the VMAs, winning in nine categories, including video of the year and song of the year, for “Anti-Hero.” She now has the second most overall wins, according to MTV.
Shakira Wins The Vanguard Award
Shakira was also this year’s recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, becoming the first Latin American artist honoured.
