A New Era of CELINE with Michael Rider

Timeless legacy.

The moment is here. Michael Rider’s debut collection for CELINE marks a momentous chapter in the brand’s storied legacy.

As he steps into the iconic fashion house that has long been synonymous with elegance and timeless style, Rider brings a fresh yet sartorial touch to his silhouettes. In case you didn’t know, the creative director formerly worked for Phoebe Philo, making him the ideal choice to take over the reigns.

Taken from a statement Rider expressed, “I’ve always loved the idea of clothing that lives on, that becomes a part of the wearer’s life, that may capture a moment in time writebut also speaks to years and years of gestures and occasions and change, of the past, the present and the future, of memories, of usefulness and of fantasy, of life really.”

As fashion mavens make their way to 16 Rue Vivenne (CELINE’s historic headquarters), the anticipation is at an all-time high as audience awaits the start of the show.

Rider draws inspiration from the past, evoking a sense of nostalgia with these reimagined silhouettes reminiscent of Phoebe Philo and Hedi Slimane’s era. For instance, the slim silhouettes pay homage to Hedi Slimane, while the sharp tailoring takes from Phoebe Philo’s aesthetics. Taking it all in with a Rider twist, he made these silhouettes his own with a blend of preppy takes with beautiful sculptural forms. As models strut the runway, we couldn’t help but notice the sea of harmonious neutral palettes with vibrant pops of blue and red conquering the runway.

This season’s silhouette features a sense of fluidity, complemented by sophisticated tailoring, including wide-legged dress pants, sweaters, muted trench coats, blazers, and skinny jeans. Destined for today’s modern muse, every piece was refreshing yet embodies French chic to the fullest. In the accessories department, CELINE goes all in with sophisticated scarves, XXL belts and chunky chains. However, the leather bags did not go unnoticed, especially the revamped version of the iconic Phantom bag.
