Cindy Crawford has defended her decision to let her 16-year-old daughter, Kaia Gerbermodel. The supermodel says that she is more concerned about letting her daughter drive a car then enter the world of fashion.
“My daughter just got a driver’s licence,” Crawford told The Associated Press. “I’m a lot more concerned about her driving by herself then entering the world of modelling.”
She went on to explain that she feels she has the advantage because she has been a part of the industry for so long and can therefore give her children the best advice.
“The great thing for my kids is that I know a lot about that world,” she said. “I feel like: Who better to help guide them than me?”
Crawford also added that although 16 may seem very young to be thrust into the spotlight, that is just normal in fashion: “In some ways. I wish I could have pushed it off a year or two. But she’s 16. That’s how old I was when I started, which is young, but in fashion that’s kind of the normal age when people start.”
