Dior Haute Couture Hits The Runway In A Surreal Dream

The Christian Dior Haute Couture SS18 collection was exhibited in Paris like a dream. The show took place in the gallery that Leonor Fini – an artist that Christian Dior befriended in the 1930’s; had once exhibited her artwork before becoming a couturier. It was Maria Grazia Chiuri‘s latest haute couture collection for the house which was all about surrealism and consisted of a predominantly black and white collection sprinkled with illusion and surprise.

Immersing herself in the heart of the Surrealist movement  is what made it possible to bring a fresh breath of imagination to the spring-summer 2018 haute couture collection, conjuring an other-worldliness and constant optical illusion.

Maria Grazia Chiuri is the first woman to be appointed to lead the ateliers and design teams of the famed French fashion house, Chiuri is keen on female empowerment. “We need to maintain attention on the debate of equal opportunity, for everyone,” she said.
