The Chanel Dakar Métiers D’art 2022/23 collection by Virginie Viard was unveiled last December. It was showcased inside the former Palais de Justice in Dakar. The collection features a vibrant new interpretation of the pop-soul-funk-disco-punk decade of the 1970s. Highlighting saturated colours and texture, the collection creates exquisite dialogues of elemental beauty. From airy flared tweed suits in bright, deep colours to relaxed patterned knitwear, the collection has a certain lightness and sumptuous allure that we love.

Using exceptional craftsmanship, the collection also sees geometries of nature and eclecticism that are versatile and chic. The collection has the perfect ready-to-wear and accessories to elevate your wardrobe all year round.

Other than that, you can also expect to see a ton of dense floral embroideries, wooden beadwork, and metallic chainmail. New interpretations of pieces of jewellery have also been highlighted in the collection.

To commemorate the collection, Chanel captured cinematic images of Ethiopian model Amar Akway and Dutch model Rianne Van Rompaey as part of the campaign. The Chanel Dakar Métiers D’art 2022/23 collection sees the models roaming the sandy beaches of Les Almadies along the city’s tranquil waterfront to its light-soaked rooftop terraces and the airy volumes of the former Palais de Justice.

All in all, the collection is a timeless souvenir of the enduring artistic dialogues created by the House between Paris and Dakar.
