Lizzo delivered a winning performance at the American Music Awards yesterday, 24 November, but it was her tiny Valentino bag that won over the fashion crowd.
The Truth Hurts singer arrived on the red carpet wearing a vibrant ruffled one-shoulder dress by Valentino, teaming it with a minuscule bag – one of only three in the world – also by the Italian label.
Lizzo, who has reached international fame this year, posted a picture of herself wearing the bag on Instagram, writing in the caption that it reflected her much-loved nonchalant attitude. “@maisonvalentino bag big enough for my fucks to give,” she said. “Big body bitch in a Valentin-HO custom look for @amas ??”

Mini handbags have been slowly building catwalk momentum over the past few seasons, with Valentino and Jacquemus paving the way. Brandon Maxwell, Tod’s, Paco Rabanne and Ferragamo have also showcased similarly small versions, designed as decoration more than for functionality.
When it comes to accessories, extreme proportions are a key trend. In opposition to the tiny styles at Valentino, giant oversized bags were popular with Rejina Pyo, Sportmax, Off-White and Lacoste. There’s no doubt which team Lizzo is on.
