Every angle tells a story
Living up to its namesake, the LOEWE Puzzle bag is a cuboid of our dreams—fun, innovative and distinctive. Making its first-ever debut during the LOEWE SS15 show, the cuboid, seemingly origami-folded bag was the former Creative Director of LOEWE, Jonathan Anderson’s brainchild. All sharp lines and soft structure, the bag had defied all boundaries with its avant-garde silhouette, earning cult status among fashion darlings in an instant. Hand-pieced from precision-cut panels of leather by LOEWE’s Spanish atelier, this was the bag that defined the house.
Its innovative creation allows it to toted in multiple ways—crossbody, as a clutch or over the shoulder. And, over the years, the Puzzle collection has expanded with new textures, sizes, and finishes. All beloved by everyone, the bag is a design that seamlessly balances unique, beauty and practicality.
Now, a decade later, the three-dimensional puzzle is still holding its unparalleled status, beauty and versatility. So, to honour its 10 years of defining the world of fashion, LOEWE launched the Puzzle 10 collection: a limited-edition compilation of 19 re-editions of archival Puzzle bags—all hand-plucked from the brand’s archive by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez—and one celebratory newcomer. Full of artistry this collection features a selection of the most imaginative creations.
From the Spring 2017 Cloud bag to the Confetti bag—a hand-embroidered metallic and leather sequins edition— all of the pieces in the collection exudes joy, creativity and whimsical—all trademark with LOEWE’s playfulness. Showcasing many different techniques, appliqué, embroidery, cross-stitch, as well as LOEWE’s signature leather marquetry, each of the bags is finished with a commemorative metal plaque, and features two LOEWE balloon charms.
To commemorate the milestone even further, LOEWE showcased these limited-edition bags in pop-up spaces around the world including Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Harrods in London and Siam Paragon, Bangkok. And, we got the pleasure of viewing the hall of fame in person. The unveiling of the pop-up was celebrated with the brand’s ambassadors, friends and devotees such as Baifern Pimchanok, Tay Tawan and Phuwin Tang. Among the crowd were also Kim Jinwook, Milk Pansa, Junior Panachai and Mabel Suchada.
Over in Bangkok, we had the chance to explore the Puzzle’s history and discover the collection through engaging, close-up visuals of the bags. Even LOEWE artisans travelled down under to demonstrate the precise construction techniques involved in creating Puzzle bags. The pop-up revealed the intricate technical innovations and emotional storytelling that have defined each iteration of the Puzzle bag—giving us adeeper appreciation for the bag’s architectural complexity and the meticulous attention to detail that transforms each piece from a mere accessory into a work of art, ultimately reinforcing why the Puzzle remains one of fashion’s most coveted and intellectually designed handbags.
