Michael Kors Fights World Hunger With ‘Watch Hunger Stop’ Campaign

Over the years, Michael Kors has been fighting against world hunger with their company’s global philanthropic initiative, Watch Hunger Stop. This year, the brand collaborated with artist Bonny Guo also known as NYSOMETIMES to create two special-edition bags in hopes that it will help reach zero hunger.

With aid from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and a collective of global influencers, this year’s Watch Hunger Stop campaign is titled ‘Love Makes The World Go Round’. The brand has enlisted friends of the brand such as Olivia Culpo, Fei Wang, Ki Eun-Se, Gao Yuanyuan, and Zhan Xiaochen to spread the message of their mission to end world hunger.

Renowned for starring a long list of celebrity partners, the annual campaign this year invited influencers, including Kate Hudson, Halle Berry, and Lupita Nyong’o as well to serve as ambassadors for Watch Hunger Stop in their hometowns.

On top of the global influencers, Michael Kors also collaborated with NYSOMETIMES, a multi-media artist with a background in chemical engineering who lives and works between China and the United States, to create the Watch Hunger Stop 2022 styles: a black LOVE tote and a canvas FOOD IS LOVE pouch.

“We’re all connected more than ever, but we still need a reminder that love makes the world go round,” said Michael Kors.

NYSOMETIMES created the design for this year’s special-edition pieces, putting their signature, graffiti-inspired spin on the brand’s longtime tagline. All profits from the sale of the tote and pouch will go to WFP.

“I created this typeface that I have been using in many of my artworks. Each letter provides part of itself to form the next one. The word then becomes a new ‘one.’ It makes me think about people. We are all independent. We also need each other to form a bigger us. I feel love within these connections,” said NYSOMETIMES.

This year’s Watch Hunger Stop campaign also includes a fun and easy social media initiative, a special Instagram camera filter called “Share Your Heart” which features a special heart logo that users can add to their posts to join the community and spread the love. Each post using the “Share Your Heart” filter triggers a donation of the value of 50 meals to WFP. The filter can be found on the @michaelkors Instagram profile in the filters tab, if you’re looking to make a change in the world.
