Onitsuka Tiger celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, and fittingly its SS25 collection weaves a story about growth. Unveiled at Milan Fashion Week, the city-ready collection is inspired by youthful explorers, as they move to the rhythm of urban life.
This Spring/Summer ’25 collection is aptly titled “Urban Beats”, portraying individual growth through an exploration of strength and vulnerability, intimacy and self-expression.
Thus, the collection’s tempo aligns with any bustling city, kindled by the fiery ambition of youth. The line-up is an exciting, gender-blurring display of androgyny, symbolic of the “frictions and contradictions of youth”. The designs strip back hardened exteriors, as silhouettes are softened and subtracted, to allow traditional fashion tropes to evolve.
THE YOUTHFUL EXPLORER
So each piece from Onitsuka Tiger SS25 becomes an emblem of evolution, transforming everyday fashion elements into edgy expressions of belonging. Here, elements of lingerie intermingle with loose-fitting tuxedo vests while polo tees come festooned with shiny fringes. Then, fluid dresses are recontextualised with sumptuous knitwear. And a shift dress expresses the utility of a dual-pocket front. Elsewhere, safari uniforms are refashioned for the city explorer, sans sleeves if not with boxier fits. In essence, the collection presents the dressing up and dressing down journey of young adulthood, on full display at the Rotanda della Besana.
Of course, footwear is an essential part of any Onitsuka Tiger collection. Faux fur clogs bring in some humour—because nobody said growing up shouldn’t be fun. On the other hand, comfort and style is ensured with square-toed pumps and rubberised sandals.
A SPECIAL PARTNERSHIP
A series of figure-hugging ensembles made in partnership with Wolford is a key highlight of the collection, presented in nude tones. In fact, guests are gifted with tights from this collab, in the brand’s signature yellow, kept within the backpack they get to take home.
Through the seasons, the Onitsuka Tiger showcase has become a magnet for global celebrities at Milan Fashion Week. Those in attendance included TWICE’s MOMO, actors Hayato Isomura, Woo Do-hwan, actresses Baifern, Rashmika Mandanna, and singer Normani, among others.
