Musician and entrepreneur, Pharrell Williams will have the highest-profile job in fashion

Pharrell Williams will succeed Virgil Abloh’s role and lead Louis Vuitton toward a new and exciting chapter. His first collection will be revealed this June during men’s fashion week in Paris.

“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter,” said Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO.

Like Abloh, Williams is no stranger to fashion. Agile in curating his talent for fashion, he is the co-founder of the streetwear brand Human Made with Kenzo’s creative director, Nigo – reaffirming his skills in fashion design. Not standing in the shadows, the apparel entrepreneur is also the founder of the Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream streetwear brands. On top of that, the music producer is also attached to G-Star Raw Denim – this shows that the fashion industry has always been his playground for a long time. He has always had a high appreciation for a specific kind of eye-candy fashion, depicting his medium of artistic expression, so we can’t wait to see him lead.

Before the French Maison appointed Williams, a riot of names have been touted for the position, including designers Grace Wales Bonner, Martine Rose, Samuel Ross, Jonathan Anderson, and more. However, due to his wide-ranging interest and ability to straddle a multitude of worlds, Louis Vuitton thought of him as worthy of the role.
