Who needs a sparkling cocktail dress when you can hit the town in your loungewear?

That’s just what Rosie Huntington-Whiteley did when she attended the launch of Collagen Water in Los Angeles looking like she’d taken a wrong, yet undeniably stylish, turn on the way to bed.

Naturally, the 31-year-old pulled off the tricky pyjama trend with aplomb, looking gorgeously louche in a pinstriped suit from Galvan’s Spring 2019 collection. Her long trench coat was belted with a sash at the waist, falling over a pair of matching wide-legged trousers.

She kept the rest of her look simple, opting for a box purse by L’Afshar, sparkling hoop earrings, white heels and sleek hair – a smart way to ensure the look stays polished rather than sloppy.

Rosie’s outing is more proof, if ever we needed it, that fashion’s love affair with sleepwear shows no sign of abating. Offering both style and comfort, donning a beautiful silk set during daylight hours is a guaranteed way to wow.

Aside from RHW, who better to look to than original PJ advocate, Coco Chanel? The French designer started the trend in the 1920s by wearing her lover’s luxury nightwear.

If you’re not quite ready to embrace the trend full throttle, we hear you – separates is a great place to start. Style a top as you would a blouse, tucking it into a leather skirt or off-set billowing trousers with a sharp blazer. Because some pieces are just too elegant to wear only to bed.
