The BFC has announced a new category for the forthcoming 2019 Fashion Awards – the Designers’ Designer prize. The accolade will celebrate British businesses who have made a global impact this year “through creativity in product design, campaigns and collaborations that are built upon a firm business foundation”.
“The creativity shown over the past year by the winner of this award is considered to have moved the needle in increasing their positive brand perception in 2019,” read a statement from the BFC.
The shortlisted designers includes Christopher Kane, Jonathan Anderson, Margaret Howell, Roksanda Ilincic and Simone Rocha, all of whom are recognised for their eponymous brands.
The nominations for the 2019 Fashion Awards were announced in full in late October, with Bottega Veneta revealed as the new frontrunner. The brand, which has gained acclaim since the appointment of Daniel Lee in June 2018, has been nominated in four categories – Accessories Designer of the Year, Brand of the Year, Designer of the Year and British Designer of the Year.
The winners will be announced at a star-studded ceremony held at the Royal Albert Hall on 2 December.
