“This is a collection for those celebrating the Year of the Dragon all around the globe,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “A colourful and lively tribute to the creative spirit that’s sparked when different cultures come together and push each other forward.”
The 23-piece collection sees Tommy Hilfiger’s classic American cool DNA energised by expressions of Asian youth culture. “When I was a kid growing up in Hong Kong, I used to read American hip-hop magazines that showed my favourite artists in Tommy’s loud prep,” said Edison Chen, founder of CLOT. “I wanted to be part of that. I am so thrilled to lend our culture to this collection, putting its spirit and meaning into the design. The most interesting part was communicating the feeling of the dragon, its power and success, in a way that is true.”
Preppy Looks For The Lunar New Year
What to expect from the cool collection? Step out this Lunar New year in preppy casuals iconic to Tommy Hilfiger, now remixed with CLOT’s urban Asian sensibility. Consider an oversized tee that boasts the Tommy Hilfiger logo on its back now festooned with signature CLOT motifs. Perhaps a red crewneck with a dragon print that symbolises fearlessness and strength. Or a rugby sweater lined with both Tommy Hilfiger and CLOT stripes. Maybe an elevated take on a tracksuit in festive red. Also in the mix are staples such as a blazer, chino, mini skirt and archive shirt featuring the collaboration logo.
A key highlight—and Hilfiger’s personal pick—is a reversible bomber featuring red, white and blue on one side and a Tommy X CLOT monogram on the other. Then there’s our personal favourite, a striped shirt dress with Chinese knot details near the cuffs. And let’s not forget accessories that include a crossbody bag, shoes, and the perfect bucket hat to finish up your look.
