The power of a trouser suit isn’t anything new – from Lady Gaga’s over-sized Marc Jacobs power suit to the Emporio Armani tuxedo that Cara Delevingne wore at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, they’ve long been a popular alternative to dresses for elegant occasion-wear.

Victoria Beckham and Olivia Palermo made a case for a classic silhouette in a daring shade.
Both opted for a wide-leg style in a pillar-box red, but have styled them in different ways. Palermo gave her suit more of an edge, by rolling up the sleeves slightly to show her simple black long-sleeve top. This styling trick makes her outfit look relaxed.
Beckham chose to contrast her suit with a powder blue blouse, giving her ensemble a soft, feminine touch.
