The Valentino Rockstud pumps had a chokehold on the fashion world. After it first appeared on the Autumn/Winter 2010 runway, everyone ran with it–quite literally. The iconic shoe became a symbol of noughties fashion and a wardrobe staple for every type of woman, from Hollywood actresses and corporate powerhouses to young, club-going party girls. As nostalgia continues to reign, creative director Alessandro Michele gives the beloved shoe a modern update.

The announcement of this comeback was timed perfectly with the long-awaited return of another cult favourite, The Devil Wears Prada. In the sequel’s teaser, the character of Runway’s editor-in-chief and all-powerful tastemaker Miranda Priestly, played by the incomparable Meryl Streep, stepped into the office wearing pumps with the iconic Valentino Rockstud design.
