BAZAAR Tries: Exploring Shake Shack at The Exchange TRX

Burgers and shakes, anyone?

The highly anticipated arrival of Shake Shack in The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur, has stirred excitement in the culinary scene. Believe it or not, the establishment kicked off its journey as a hot dog cart in New York City. Today, the fast-casual restaurant chain opened its doors globally, and finally, in Kuala Lumpur, on 10 April 2024. Nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Shake Shack is conveniently located in the foyer of the buzzing shopping destination amidst lush greenery and cityscape views.

The design and artistry at Shake Shack TRX is a celebration of organic integration and traditional Malaysian heritage. Every facet of the space pays homage to the region’s cultural legacy, from the infusion of Malaysian Meranti wood to the incorporation of intricate local art forms. Additionally, the captivating artwork displayed near the entrance by local luminary Shu Yee is a testament to Malaysia’s vibrant spirit and rich culinary heritage, resonating with the brand’s ethos of unity and community.

Meet the classics

While their exclusives are a must-try in our books, their signature items on the menu are what make Shake Shack so iconic today. These include the celebrated ShackBurger, Flat-Top Sausage, Chicken Shack, ‘Shroom Burger, Hot Chicken Sandwiches, and their classic Crinkle-Cut Fries—don’t forget to complete the experience with their Cheese Fries, too.

Our favourites? The classic ShackBurger, ‘Shroom Burger, and Flat-Top Cheese Sausage. For dessert, treat yourself to their Concretes. We have to admit; our tastebuds went wild for their TRXopical Park and Shack Attack. The latter is destined for every chocolate lover, as the rich yet indulgent dessert consists of Chocolate Frozen Custard blended with ‘Chocolate Concierge’ Chocolate Chunks, Brownie, Shake Fudge Sauce, and Cocoa Nibs.

For refreshments, pair your burgers with their in-house lemonade to quench your thirst. For the classics, order their Fresh Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade – highly-recommended in our books. However, if you’re into a blend of passionfruit and raspberry in the form of a refreshing drink, have a sip of their Sparkling Lemonade.

Their classic Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry Shakes make a great combination with your burgers, too. If you’re not into the classics, don’t fret, other flavours such as Black & White, Salted Caramel and Coffee shakes are also available for the adventurous.

While we enjoyed exploring the menu, waiting for Shake Shack’s arrival in Malaysia was definitely worth the wait. Trust us; we’ll definitely be back for more.
