You Can Now Buy Rosé-Flavored Vodka

Finally, for winos everywhere who love rosé but thought, if only this stuff was, like, triple the strength, you’re in luck: Rosé-flavored vodka is real, and it’s coming to a liquor store near you.

These days it’s hard to find a flavored vodka that doesn’t exist — there are ones that taste like bubblegum, bacon, even peanut butter & jelly sandwiches — so it was only a matter of time that an enterprising company found a way to capitalize on one of the hottest drinks over the past few years. Hangar 1 is that company, only they’re not using a bunch of artificial flavorings to give it that vaguely fruity flavor. This is the real deal — a combination of distilled vodka and rosé from Northern California. (The rosé’s a blend of Petit Verdot and White Meritage wines, in case you’re curious.)

Rosé vodka has the pale, almost coppery-pink color of traditional rosé, though as you bring a shot glass to your lips, you’ll immediately smell the potent scent of vodka. It tastes a lot like vodka initially, but then that burns-so-good feeling is washed away with a delicately acidic taste that’s unmistakably rosé-like. It’s a little floral and a little fruity. That’s what makes it dangerous — the light finish is so smooth, you’ll forget you’re drinking something that’s 30 percent alcohol by volume. (For comparison, most rosé hovers around 9-13 percent.) It’s an easy way to make rosé Jell-O shots that pack a punch, or liven up a spritzer or Giggle Juice.

You can find a bottle at most major liquor stores, as well as the Hangar 1 distillery in Alameda, CA, and at reservebar.com.
