Ashley Darryl, of Ashley Darryl Interiors, translates some of the season’s standout trends into home decor ideas.
Graphic Impact
Go West
The hip Pioneertown Motel in Pioneertown, California shows off the western trend that a lot of designers did so well, like these sleek separates with touches of denim from Rodarte. Art in the form of a suede woven wall hanging, a Navajo-inspired rug and reclaimed wood wall paneling come together in a sophisticated nod to the Wild West.
Hot Pink
Hot pink and bright citrus hues are all the rage right now. Designers in fashion and interiors alike use them to make a statement in a big way. Brian Patrick Flynn paints an entire room in this rich rosy pink, where Isa Arfen uses a similar color in a major look from his spring collection.
Pleats, Please
Fine pleating in both clothes and furniture gives off vibes of romanticism and simplicity. This pleated blush-colored chair from West Elm gives similar feelings of sweet effortlessness, as does this beautiful dress from Tibi’s spring collection.
Spanish Influence
Oscar de la Renta’s creative director Peter Copping sent a beautiful collection with Spanish influences down the runway. In interior design, this influence can be shown in many ways whether in stenciled flooring and tile, or in a piece of furniture with intricately carved details. Either way you choose to introduce it into the home, the look gives off a international exotic feel.
Marbled Knits
Interior designer ASH NYC utilizes more unique materials in their projects, such as this black mercury marble. Fashion designers are also trending towards tonal and textured fabrics that show a variety of color and marled effects. It gives a warm cozy vibe in either implementation.
Bold Stripes
Stripes just keep getting better and better. This beautiful multi-colored striped dress by Ferragamo is a show stopper and gives off a playful summer vibe. Stripes work the same way in a room, and this Farrow & Ball wallpaper is the ultimate eye-opener.
Dressed- Up Denim
Denim is a comfortable fabric that can make a home feel just as good as putting on your favorite pair of jeans. Sleek, refined denim looks are trending in all forms from dresses to chairs. Try working denim into your home with smaller, upholstered pieces, like these dining chairs, or simply with denim throwpillows.
Boudoir
When I was working on this bedroom with my client, they wanted a serene, beautiful, dreamy space to relax in. We decided to use tonal greys and whitesfor a calm, clean look. Calvin Klein’s collection is a great example of the lingerie trend that achieves a similar feeling of sensuality and flow.
Tie-Dye
Fun and playful for adults or children, all ages are welcome to show off this look. Tie-dye is a great way to add a unique touch of organic playfulness to a space like this Eskayel wallpaper backdrop or to your wardrobe with BCBG’s chic collection of dip-dyed dresses and tops.
