Here’s everything you need to know about “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season Two:
Is it based on a book?
Yes! The Summer I Turned Pretty is a friends-to-lovers romance – a perfect summer read for all the hopeless romantics. This young adult book series sees Belly catching the attention of her longtime friends, Conrad and Jeremiah – two very cute brothers – who finally notice her after so many years of spending summers together.
When is it premiering?
Season 2 will be premiering on 14 July 2023. The first three episodes will be dropped on the day itself and it will be followed by one episode weekly before the finale on 18 August.
What’s this season’s plot?
The second season of the TV show will kick off one year after the events of season 1. This season’s plot will revolve around Jenny Han’s book, It’s Not Summer Without You – the second book in the “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series. Based on the official synopsis, this season will tackle the tropes of love triangles and heartbreak.
“Belly used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach, but with Conrad and Jeremiah fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah’s cancer, she’s not sure summer will ever be the same. When an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah’s beloved house, Belly has to rally the gang to come together–and to decide once and for all where her heart lies.”
Who will be in the cast of season 2?
Most of the main characters will be returning on-screen such as Lola Tung (Belly), Christoper Briney (Conrad), Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah), Jackie Chung (Laurel), Sean Kaufman (Steven), Rain Spencer (Taylor), David Iacono (Cam) and Rachel Blanchard (Susannah). Sadly, fan-favourite Minnie Mills (Shayla) will not be back this season.
As for new characters, Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher will be in the cast lineup and will have recurring roles.
How does the soundtrack look like?
Last season, the soundtrack was filled with Taylor Swift’s tunes and it looks like it’s no different from this season. The show’s dreamy teaser trailer gave us a hint about the soundtrack with its background music – Taylor Swift’s folklore track “August”. So, what’s in store for us this summer? 100 per cent more T-Swift songs as well as some upbeat and fun summer tunes.
