On August 12 at 12:12 am ET, the singer announced her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl”, on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast “New Heights Show.” Revealing the album cover and all the details surrounding the album itself, it’s one of the most anticipated albums of the year now.

What is “The Life of a Showgirl”?
Swift is ready to embrace glamour, theatricality and perhaps her most visually stunning era yet. The album title isn’t random—Swift has woven showgirl imagery throughout her recent work. In the singer’s Easter egg-filled “Bejeweled” music video, from her Midnights era, Swift performs Dita Von Teese’s famous martini glass dance alongside the burlesque star. In another scene from the same video, she appeared as a showgirl in a glittery outfit with orange lighting—a clear predecessor to this new era.
The showgirl theme also appears in her current Eras Tour, where Swift added a showgirl-inspired performance to “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” from The Tortured Poets Department. This performance even featured her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, joining her onstage in June 2024.
