Where there is entertaining, there is most likely a hostess dressed in some very glamorous equivalent of floor-sweeping hemlines that make the hostess gown as grand as ever over the years, around the world. Truly the finishing touch to any celebration is Sabrina, BAZAAR gets an exclusive 24 hour live feed in the day in the life of this scene-making siren on Singapore’s busiest night of the annual calendar.
7:19am
Alarm on my iPhone goes off in sync with my 6 month old Whippet puppy “Ricochet”, leaving me just about a few seconds to race her down the stairs to my front door for her morning stroll.
Three cups of coffee later…
8:30am
The honk outside my front door alerts me that the school bus has arrived; I kiss my 8-year-old son Phoenix on the forehead and tell him to have the best day ever at school.
I shut the door, and with one twirl I alternate from Super Mom by day, and Party Queen by night. What’s on my Spotify? Bebel Gilberto, a current obsession of mine. Everything she does is so beautiful. Most people would assume a nightclub owner would listen to blaring EDM all day, this is not the case with me. I move to old school jazz, Idris Elba and a Tribe called Quest when I want to feel like a gangster to get my engines revving before a night out.
And then the ultimate question flashes through my head… #WHATAMIGOINGTOWEAR
It’s Formula One Weekend in Singapore for gods sake and as usual my wardrobe is scattered around various parts of the globe discombobulated due to my never-ending travel slash moving house schedule that I always seem to be on.
10:30am
The doorbell rings…
…and YESSSS!!
A magical giant yellow box appears before my very eyes. It smells like a delicious DHL delivery. Well praise the lord! Now, let’s see what two Pilipino straight men that are the handymen at the newly renovated flat in Mactan have found in my wardrobe. I whatsapped them photos, let’s see if they pulled it off.
<Insert GASP>
To my utter shock, NOTHING I requested for transpired.
At least one of them is sensible enough to throw in the sheer long black beaded Francis Libirian gown custom made for me for grand opening of Chaos City Of Dreams Casino in Manila.
<Insert deep sigh>
Did I mention I am four months pregnant?!
I throw on the dress, zipper will never close in a million years, but turns out the gown is SPECTACULAR (but left open in the back).
I slap on a vintage 1890’s Top Hat, feather mask, veil and viola! Outfit #1 is complete.

11:00am
More coffee…
Finalizing table-seating arrangements for a first-of-its-kind theatrical dinner performance at famed designer Jacques Garcia’s latest creation, Hotel Vagabond Singapore. They tell me they are seating my group front and center. I am excited already.
#ExpecttheUnexpected is the tagline I’ve been promoting although I really have no clue as what the show is actually about as it’s all been very hush-hush curated by the mastermind performance artist Kate March from Hong Kong. “Revolution X” is the working title. Should be epic!
Next up… I throw in some social media posts on Instagram for good measure getting people vamped up about Formula One this weekend. Not too many selfies as I don’t want to give the impression that I am actually THAT VAIN. But of course no one is? RIGHT, let me remind you ladies and gentleman that I am in show business after all.
12:20pm
Courier arrives with VIP passes to Saturday night’s infamous Amber lounge after-party. Woot Woot! The entire town is literarily trying to get tickets for tonight’s celebration. Amber Lounge never lets me down.
1:35pm
We have confirmed that I will be wearing Singapore’s latest up and coming designer Lisa Von Tang of Chi Chi Von Tang’s latest creation for Saturday evening’s F1. I am smitten with this particular look, it reminds me of a 1950’s George Plank Illustration with the headpiece that I picked up in Venice.
2:00pm onwards…
Desperately trying to scrub the bright red paint off my hands and nails due to the last three days of graffiti art! I am in midst of doing as an oversized mural in my living room and its almost done! Maybe a manicure would suit me right about now.

SAVED BY THE GELS.
Oh gosh and I must do something about this hair. My usual messy bed head “naturele” day look just won’t cut it. So basically you guessed it I spend the rest of the afternoon trying to clean up my act for tonight’s festivities and polish up.
7:00pm
T minus one hour till show time. My phone is ringing off the hook, notifications dinging through every 10 seconds. Updates, check in’s, posts, this town has come alive with colour. There is no time more enthralling than the Formula One weekend in Singapore.
The night started with a tantalising welcome of an extremely elegant setting of cocktails and aperitifs. Welcome to the exclusionary, Hotel Vagabond on Haji Lane.
My senses are delighted by visions of abstract performance artists donned white button down collar shirts complete with bob wigs and tulle tourniquets tied at ladies ankles. I am instructed to “Drink This” and “Eat This” magic potions and concoctions created by the chief mixologist at Bar Vagabond. I take an honorary sip and remind myself that I am pregnant.
9:00pm
Oh the show has commenced! #ExpecttheUnexpected was certainly the perfect tagline. What a stellar performance. It is no wonder Singapore Tourism Board coined it as one of the most anticipated events for the Formula One weekend.
#SLAY
Eyes gaze across the room and jaws drop in slight disbelief with hints of amusement as the night continues on until the early wee hours of the morning.
