Once the 2018 Grammy Awards had begun, one question was on everyone’s mind: Where is Beyoncé?
The singer skipped walking the red carpet (as did her fellow singer, Rihanna) and wasn’t seen beside her husband, JAY-Z, in the audience earlier in the ceremony. But fear not, Beyoncé fans, the Queen has arrived. And so has Blue Ivy Carter.
Queen Bey wore a custom velvet gown by Nicolas Jebran, with two ultra-high leg slits and shoulder cut-outs. The gown was stunning on its own, but the accessories truly made the look. She wore a dramatic wide-brim hat, thin cat-eye sunglasses, platform sandals and massive jeweled earrings that dangled down to her shoulders.
The look was the perfect follow-up to the stunning gowns she sported at other Grammy events this weekend, including a sultry pleated gown by Ralph & Russoand an avant-garde custom Azzi & Osta dress, complete with a leather beret.
And while her parents went for all-black looks, six-year-old Blue Ivy went for all-white. She kept her hair up in a bun and wore a pleated coat-dress over a pair of snowy trousers. Like her mom, she chose the right accessories: a shimmery black clutch and crystal-covered Mary Jane shoes.
Bey’s last album, Lemonade, won two Grammys last year, and she was in the running for one award this year. She was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Performance for her song with JAY-Z, “Family Feud.” However, they lost to Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna’s collaboration “Loyalty.” But there’s still plenty of opportunities for the Carters to take home a win. JAY-Z is the most-nominated artist for this year’s Grammys (Beyoncé held the same title last year).
