Indulge in a splendid weekend getaway with the inaugural Opera in Paradise at the Pangkor Laut Resort. Set along the Straits of Malacca, the Pangkor Laut resort spreads over 300 acres of lush nature, laden with wooden structures that complement its surroundings.

1) Andrea Griminelli
Performing and serving as the Musical Director in this tribute to Luciano Pavarotti is Italian flautist Andrea Griminelli. From a Grammy to the Prix de Paris and Italian Knighthood, Andrea Griminelli has amassed numerous awards throughout his career and is best known for his captivating performances and meticulous technique. Griminelli also worked with Pavarotti, who performed at his concert held in Madison Square Garden, New York.
2) Belle Voci
Italian for ‘beautiful voices’, Belle Voci is made up of a stellar duo, Emily Burnett and Sophie Rowland, who are driven by their passion for sharing the beauty of Opera and classical music with the world. Following an outstanding run on The Voice, UK, the duo have had a flourishing career, with highlights including singing the national anthem at the FA Football final in 2019 and supporting tenor Alfie Boe, OBE.
3) Michael Austin
Michael Austin received his master’s from the esteemed Julliard School of Music, New York, and has made groundbreaking achievements in his career, being the first African-American Othello of his time, in addition to being the first non-Chinese performer to take on a lead singing role in a Chinese Opera, Mulan Palms.
In conjunction with the Opera Weekend in Paradise, a charity drive will take place, with funds being contributed to Hospis Malaysia. Through cost-free, evidence-based palliative care to patients and families and the provision of essential training to those offering these services, Hospis Malaysia is an organisation striving for universally accessible palliative care.
Following the concert, guests are invited to enjoy sunset cocktails and dinner with picturesque views of idyllic mountainscapes and emerald waters. The Opera Weekend in Paradise is set to take place from the 20 – 22 October 2023 and will be held over a designated weekend annually thereafter.
