Louis Vuitton is heading into the culinary world for the first time, opening both a café and a restaurant this February. The venture is part of the French fashion house’s new maison, which is situated in Osaka, Japan.
Le Café V and Sugalabo V are two separate spots within the building, both of which will feature a menu from famed chef Yosuke Suga.
Sugalabo V
Le Café V will be located on the top floor of the building, where there will be a cocktail bar and a terrace, both boasting spectacular views. A speakeasy-style door will then allow access to the restaurant, Sugalabo V. This exclusive eatery is designed for just a small group of diners to enjoy at a time, in a similar vein to Suga’s Tokyo-based restaurant Sugalabo, which was designed to only be enjoyed by those in the know (the entrance and booking process remain a closely-guarded secret). The new restaurant will also mimic the design of the original with an open kitchen and similar architectural details.

This collaboration with Suga marks Louis Vuitton’s first foray into the world of food – and it is not the only luxury designer brand to be incorporating dining experiences into its stores. Tiffany & Co recently announced that its second Blue Box Café would be opening in Harrods this month, following the successful launch of its first eatery in the jewellery brand’s New York City flagship. Meanwhile, Ralph Lauren boasts a restaurant in New York and a coffee bar in its London store. Burberry too has its very own spot, Thomas’ Café, named after its founder.
Le Café V and Sugalabo V are both slated to open on Saturday 15 February 2020.
