It’s the pink month of the year once again! This year’s Pink Project sees a collaboration with seven of Malaysia’s most prominent designers to promote awareness for breast cancer. Sonny San for Eclipse, Sereni & Shentel, Bowerhaus, InnaiRed, Celest Thoi, Alia Bastamam and Melinda Looi have all been incredibly supportive on our journey to pledge breast cancer awareness nationwide. BAZAAR speaks to the designers on their style and what the colour pink truly means to them.
What does the colour pink mean to you?
We immediately think of GIRL POWER!
How does your design/creation also represent your style as a local designer?
We are not afraid of colours and our design is all about standing out from the crowd. This year’s design really represents the brand as a whole – it is pink and full of shiny stones!
What were you thinking of when designing the pink ribbon for the campaign this year?
We really wanted incorporate a children’s headband into our design for the collaboration. We think it is never too early to educate and spread awareness, more so to our children. Our design this year is our best selling Classic Bow Down in two limited edition hues of Pink in both Adult and Children’s sizes.
How should a woman feel when wearing your design?
We want her to pat herself on the back for supporting such an amazing cause. She should feel amazing to be part of something so much bigger and stronger.
Do you have any close friends/family members who’ve encountered breast cancer? How did it feel providing support and egging them on?
We both have many friends and family who have battled with cancer. It feels great that we are able to give back in a small way and think that Harper’s BAZAAR Malaysia’s initiative to rallying so many designers to give more awareness is wonderful.
