Dior

Maria Grazia Chiuri set out to explore the role of identity while reinterpreting the history of Dior for Fall 2019. On an artful, graphic set by artist Tomaso Bingo (featuring images of nude models posed as the letters of the alphabet) at the Musee Rodin, that meant a parade of waist-cinched looks that brought femininity and elegance in a palette of mostly black, white and red. But it also undoubtedly has an edge—coming complete with bucket hats and mirrored cat eye shades. This is a girl who wears her “Feminist” t-shirt un-ironically but doesn’t apologize for loving beautiful clothes. One of the designer’s best to date. –Kerry Pieri
