Sustainability continues to sweep the fashion world with more brands producing high-quality, eco-friendly garments. The latest designer to take action is Alberta Ferretti who has teamed up with her long-time friend Livia Firth to create a sustainable capsule collection.
After first going green with Emma Watson’s capsule collection in 2011, the Italian designer has continued the process of integrating sustainability throughout her brand and beyond, encouraging customers to make ever more environmentally conscious and responsible choices.
This latest foray into sustainability sees her collaborating with Eco-Age, the sustainability consultancy co-founded by Firth. The ‘Love Me’ Collection, which launches during Earth Week (15th to 22nd April), is inspired by nature and aims to remind us to love the planet and those living on it.
The collection features shimmering mini skirts, organic cotton shirts and sweaters crafted from recycled cashmere, embroidered with the phrase “It’s a Wonderful World”. If the designer’s days-of-the-week sweaters are anything to go by, they’ll be an instant hit. Each item is made using eco-friendly materials, complete with recycled garment labels and low impact swing tags.
“I have always loved nature while celebrating life and love,” the designer said during a lunch to celebrate the launch, held at Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals. “A love for a world that is suffering and that we must safeguard. I have decided to lead by example and embark on a path that supports sustainability, to promote a cleaner and better world for generations to come.
“The ‘Love Me’ Collection, crafted with recycled cashmere and organic cotton, will raise awareness and remind us to love and protect the world by playing an active role in this change: becoming ambassadors ourselves. By joining forces, with love and passion, we can change the world.”
The capsule collection is available on albertaferretti.com from April – September. Prices start from £297.
