There is a lot of deserving buzz around this 27-year-old stunner of late. You may know the South Korean actress from Netflix’s Squid Game, the dystopian drama series about the survival of the fittest, that’s on track to be the most popular show in the streaming service’s history. In her debut role, Ho-Yeon plays North Korean defector Kang Sae-Byeok, who’s been living a tough life as a pick-pocketer. Down on her luck, she was recruited to join the game in a bid to win 4 5.6 billion won ($38.6 million). Seemingly tough on the outside, Sae-Byeok’s ultimate goal is to reunite with her younger brother, who lives in an orphanage and live a happy life together.

Thanks to the series and her remarkable performance, Ho-Yeon’s popularity sky-rocketed, earning herself 14.6 million Instagram followers in three weeks, according to Forbes, since her Squid Game debut. However, prior to this, the star also had a thriving career as a model. In 2013, she competed in Korea’s Next Top Model Season 4 and took second place. At 22 years old, in 2016, Ho-Yeon started modelling and starring in international runway shows and luxury campaigns such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Fendi and Hermes. Her mesmerising fresh face, gorgeous smile and pouty lips coupled with her humble, happy-go-lucky nature make her a great and easy talent to work with.

Ho-Yeon’s prior success in the world of fashion has helped her easily transition into the world of global superstardom as seen on her recent appearance with the Squid Game cast on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Additionally, she has taken on the new role as Louis Vuitton’s new Global Ambassador. She first graced the label’s runway for Spring/Summer 2017 and previously starred in its Pre-Fall 2017 ready-to-wear campaign.

“I immediately fell in love with Ho Yeon’s great talent and fantastic personality, and I am looking forward to starting this new chapter of the journey we started at Louis Vuitton a few years ago,” adds Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of women’s collections.
