From pale colours to over-the-top platforms and unlikely pairings of lace, Balmain’s Ready-To-Wear Fall/Winter 2022 collection illustrates a futuristic and safety theme that’s personal to the creative director, Olivier Rousteing. The men’s and women’s collection channel the need for knowledge, honesty, and transparency as the cure against lies, hate, and aggression on social media. 

The collection looks at futuristic hues and plays with the contrast between sharp, masculine looks, and soft, feminine features. Using light and fragile fabrics with metal as well as neoprene, the collection serves as a reminder of the symbols of security and strength – that we can depend on empathy and shared hope for progress. The use of black and pale colours – whites, creams, light pastels, and soft denims – showcases the tones of sweetness and vulnerability within the collection. 

The Ready-To-Wear Fall/Winter 2022 also sees a lot such as feathers, white, and metallics while footwear ranged from thigh-high boots to heeled gladiator sandals. Punctuated with chic displays of belted vests, laser-cut leather, ’80s-style tuxedo jackets, and bandage tops, the men’s and women’s collection is a work of art.
