The CD Diamond motif is refreshed and renewed for Summer ’22

This season, creative director Kim Jones dives into the Dior archives to breathe new life into one of its heritage motifs: the CD Diamond.

Originally developed by Marc Bohan for Dior in 1974, the CD Diamond toile turns the maison’s signature initials into a geometric repeat pattern that speaks a new language of luxury as eloquently as the classic Cannage and Dior Oblique.

Crafted ever so masterfully in Dior’s Italian workshops, the CD motif is first sketched by hand then transferred on to cotton toile through a silk-screening technique to create a canvas (in elegant options of Dior grey, black and coffee) that goes on to dress signature leather creations the likes of the iconic Saddle, the Dior Hit the Road backpack, and—our personal favourite—the Dior Lock briefcase.

The CD Diamond also finds its way to sneakers, woven into sweaters, scarves and socks, as well as adorning sunglasses and brass jewellery to offer the modern gentleman some snazzy style expression.
