From Santiago to stardom.
Pedro Pascal’s early life is nothing short of fascinating with a family history steeped in political activism. Born in Santiago, Chile, Pascal’s family’s connection to socialism ran deep, with his mother being related to Andrés Pascal Allende, the nephew of socialist Chilean President Salvador Allende. The actor’s parents were ardent followers of the socialist movement and were active in resistance groups against the Pinochet dictatorship.
Due to this, his family was forced to seek refuge in the Venezuelan embassy in Santiago just nine months after his birth. Eventually they received political asylum in Denmark before settling in the United States, where he was raised between Orange County, California and San Antonio, Texas. Pedro attended high school at the prestigious Orange County School of the Arts before continuing his education in acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Despite admitting that he faced challenges and type casting being Latino, Pedro Pascal persevered, earning one of his first acting roles in the iconic Buffy The Vampire Slayer. He ultimately became one of Hollywood’s most celebrated leading men.
