This June/July issue is a special one with it being our biggest beauty celebration to-date. With cover star and model Shikin Gomez reminiscing her memories of Mumbai with Dior, we unveiled not just one cover but two. In the special second edition of the cover Shikin models the new Dior Beauty summer collection.
Akin to summers at the French Riviera, this new collection houses a wonderful, audacious mix of luminous hues with everyday neutrals. Make-up artist Shiyo Joo incorporates these similar themes to the spread—pairing bursts of colours with more neutral tones to really embrace and welcome this season ahead.
Eden-Roc
One of our highlight make-up looks is this captivating blue number. Spotting this shade in the Dior Beauty 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in Eden-Roc, we knew we had to utilise it for our cover story somehow. Not your typical summer hue, this almost denim-like colour is probably the biggest contrast compared to the other shades in both the palettes of this summer collection.
Still wanting to keep to the lighthearted and elegant story of this collection, we didn’t want the colour to dominate the eye space. Choosing to put the splash of blue in the inner corner of the eye allowed for the colour to shine through in a much more natural way. Placement of shadow in the inner corner also allows for better definition of the eye shape and is equally eye-catching without having to be too dramatic.
Recreate Shikin’s Look
Breaking down Shiyo Joo’s routine on Shikin, he starts by prepping the skin with Dior’s Forever Glow Veil. Perfect for those who want to add luminosity to their complexion, this primer will achieve that with just one swipe. He then builds coverage with the Forever Fluid Matte. Depending on your preference of finish, you can choose either between their matte or skin glow option. Both providing medium buildable coverage, the two formulas are identical when it comes to its skin boosting benefits, but it’s just whether you prefer a more matte or dewy complexion. Lastly, patch up and correct any unwanted blemishes, dark spots or under-eye discolouration with the Dior Forever Skin Correct.
The Dior Beauty 5 Couleurs Couture eyeshadow palette in Eden-Roc is the star of the show with the Forever Natural Bronze following straight after. And lastly, he completes the look with a universal nude shade. The Rouge Dior Forever in Forever Nude Touch has a bare lip feel that is almost unheard of when it comes to more matte formulas. Transfer-proof and packed with lip-nourishing ingredients, you can trust this lipstick to stay in place for at least sixteen hours.
