She may not be too well known in our neck of the woods but Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle has quickly risen to international pop sensation status with huge success in Europe, particularly in France. The 26-year-old debuted her first single La Loi de Murphy in 2017 and subsequently released her first album, Brol, which became a best-selling album in France in 2019. In 2020, she collaborated with British singer Dua Lipa on the single Fever, which further brought her global recognition.

Like her name, Angèle possesses an angelic and innocent quality to her with her sweet raspy voice, golden blonde hair, and youthful looks. Entertainment runs through her blood; Angèle’s parents are Belgian Singer Marka and actress Laurence Bibot, meanwhile, her brother is the rapper, Roméo Elvis.

For Chanel’s 2021 Eye Collection, the brand has selected her to front its campaign. However, this isn’t her first rodeo with the couture house. Angèle has been a Chanel ambassador since 2019, a relationship that first began when she climbed the stairs at the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival wearing Chanel Haute Couture. Following that, she has already been chosen as the face of two other advertising campaigns: the Spring-Summer 2020 Eyewear collection and the Chanel Coco Beach 2021 Ready-to-Wear line.

Get ready to see her on the big screen as she will soon make her acting debut alongside Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver in the musical film Annette, which is set for release later in 2021.

Here, she shares more about her relationship with Chanel:

On wearing makeup

“It depends on the day, but when I put on makeup, it’s usually a good sign. It means that I want to shine, to feel beautiful. I can still feel beautiful when I don’t have makeup on, of course, but with the pandemic, it’s cool to change things up sometimes, to have fun. Makeup can change the look of your eyes, make them more intense or softer.”
