Model Tale Soares has died, aged 26, after becoming sick and falling on the catwalk at Sao Paulo Fashion Week in Brazil.

Soares was taken ill on Saturday, 27 April, while walking for fashion brand Ocksa, after collapsing on the runway. A medical team attended to him and he was later taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Local newspaper Folha de S Paulo reported that Soares tripped over his shoe straps, pictured above, a fall which the audience initially thought was part of the show.

Other models tragically watched as emergency services rushed to help him after he started to foam at the mouth and carried him off stage, according to the Metro.

Hours earlier, he had posted pictures on his Instagram account about the fashion event.

The organisers gave a statement on Twitter and confirmed the death, but didn’t give any further details. “We’re sorry for their loss and send our deepest condolences to Tales’ family,” the statement said, adding that they were providing “all necessary assistance at this sad time”.

Footage circulating on social media shows Soares walking to the end of the catwalk for the spring/ summer 2020 collection, and turning back before staggering and falling, according to the BBC.
